How using AI can change how we create

I love these team photos, but they aren’t my photos. In fact, they’re not even real photos. I quickly created them using AI.

There has been such a buzz about AI over the last few months and I think it’s incredible where things are heading. I am loving that this tech space is suddenly something everybody is talking about.

My partner said “Don’t talk about that, you’ll be out of a job” but I don’t think so, not yet at least.

I think there’s a secure place for diversified creatives as time goes on. It’s one of many more tools to help get the job done and worth knowing about.

“Working smart, not hard” is what I remember an old colleague boasting long ago, but it sounds all so apt for this now. Whether you’re checking your copywriting grammar or getting quick ideas in ChatGPT or even making realistic images in midjourney when it’s not possible to photograph in real life (my personal fave is reproducing historical events).

It’s worth remembering AI isn’t just DALL-E or ChatGPT. It’s Alexa & Siri. It’s Face ID and TikTok filters. It’s social media algorithms, Tesla cars, and DJI drones. It’s so much more and that’s why it’s bloody brilliant.

There are also so many ethical concerns to consider and don’t get me started on worrying about a world of T-800 Terminators.

What’s most exciting right now though is Microsoft & Google throwing their weight in following ChatGPT’s boom. This is what ChatGPT said when I asked how it felt about its new competition:

“As an AI language model, I don't have personal feelings. However, from a technical perspective, it's interesting to see how Google and Microsoft are investing in their own language models and natural language processing technologies. This investment can lead to the development of more advanced AI-powered chatbots, virtual assistants, and other natural language processing applications, which could improve the user experience for a wide range of industries and applications. It also demonstrates the growing interest and investment in AI and NLP technologies by major tech companies.”

It reminds me of a time not so long ago, when tech giants Netflix founds themselves in a similar place to ChatGPT luring Disney and Amazon into throwing their weight into streaming too.

I think we’ve got some big changes coming. What do you think?
